Alexithymia (n.) the inability to express your feelings

He knew he didn't feel the same.

He didn't pay attention to his fans when they were crowding him. 

His gaze was only on one person. And that was you. 

Oikawa just looked at you from afar, and didn't tell anyone what he felt. 

His best friend, Iwaizumi knew what was up, however. He noticed it ever since the start. 

Every time you were in his line of sight, Oikawa would just stare at you as if an angel came down from heaven. 

And that's what you were to him. An angel. 

No one really noticed your beauty though, which was an advantage for him. He had no one to compete with for your affection. 

But there was one thing he couldn't do. 

He couldn't tell you how he felt every time you were together.

Despite the attention he had been giving his fans, his attention was mostly on you. No one could deny that he was in love, but what they didn't realize was that the renowned setter was in love with you. 

Not even you realized that the setter had fallen for you.

"Iwa-chaan...." groaned Oikawa exasperatedly. His friend looked at him and raised an eyebrow. He sighed and decided to listen to his friend's pleas. 

"What is it, Assikawa?" 

Oikawa looked at Iwaizumi with tired eyes. That surprised the brown-eyed male. 

"I can't tell ______ how I feel...What do I do...?"

Iwaizumi looked at the sky and hummed. "Hm...I don't know. YOU'RE the one with experience with the girls anyway. Ask yourself." he said, hitting Oikawa's head in the process. 

Oikawa feigned a sad look on his face and put a hand on his chest. "You cut me deep, Iwa-chan..."

His friend looked at him dead in the eye. "Just be yourself and once the time is right, tell her."

Oikawa spent most of his free time talking with you and Iwaizumi, and tried to gain your affection by making you laugh and all that. Even doing the silliest things just to make you laugh. Iwaizumi mocked his efforts and hit him often, and that made you laugh as well.

Oikawa was happy that the both of you were getting close, and hoped that his efforts wouldn't be in vain.


He just needed help in conveying his feelings for you, but he couldn't do it.

"_______-chan~" Oikawa rolled your name in his tongue as he called you. You turned around and smiled once you saw him. "What is it?"

"Do you like anyone right now?" he asked playfully, though in his mind, he was very serious. The question surprised you and you fiddled with your fingers as a blush slowly crept through your face. 

"Yes..."

Oikawa's heart fell, while his smile remained. "That's great!"

Oikawa saw you standing alone by the school courtyard. He ran to you as he built up the courage to just tell you what he felt. He didn't want to give you to anyone else, even if it was..

His eyes widened as he saw you with Iwaizumi. The both of you looked like you were in an intimate conversation. You were alone with him, and Oikawa decided to hide nearby and eavesdrop. It wasn't like him to do so, but he wanted to know what the two of you were talking about.

"Iwaizumi-kun.." you said, earning the male's attention. He looked at you as a blush sprung up from your cheeks. Iwaizumi's eyes darted from every corner, not wanting Oikawa to hear whatever you were about to say. "What is it?"

Oikawa could hear you struggling to get the words out of your system. He waited impatiently as he bit his finger.

"I like you."

Iwaizumi fell silent and just looked at you with widened eyes. He wasn't sure on what to do or what to say. I mean, he did return your feelings, but he didn't want to hurt Oikawa, even if he was an ass. 

Oikawa however, bit his lip hard enough to draw blood. He felt his heart sink into an abyss. He waited for Iwaizumi's response, as did you. 

"But Oikawa likes you as well."

"But I like you more."

Oikawa fell to the ground in silence. He held his heart and started crying. He knew that you were looking at Iwaizumi most of the time anyway. He had to accept it.

He didn't care what his friend's response was. All he heard from Iwaizumi was, "I like you too."

He had a chance. 

He couldn't tell you sooner.

He almost had you.
